It's pretty safe to say everyone knows Coca-Cola. Since 1886, generations of Americans have grown up with the familiar red and white logo surrounding them at every advertising turn. As Coca-Cola continues to enter our lives through promotions of all types, collectors of the memorabilia realize the importance of this brand even more than those who simply love the drink. Collectors ferret out Coca Cola collectibles to decorate their homes wherever they can find them, always on the prowl for something interesting and fun.
Coca Cola bottles are collected by many people. Coke collectibles bring back happy memories of joyous occasions to all their collectors. Santa Claus and pretty women were used often by Coca Cola marketers in their ads. The Santa that our children know today is believed to be the likeness of the beloved Coca Cola Santa that their marketers brought to life.
Aside from these graphics, valuable Coca-Cola collectibles include antique Coke items from the 1800s can be incredibly expensive. Coca-Cola items with a faux antique look are starting to appear on the marketplace that have really been produced since the 1970s. The gullible collector can fall for collecting these items as genuine antiques. A lot of these duplicates are pretty close to the real thing, such as calendars and trays, and can even fool the expert if they aren't looking closely.
The fakes don't stop with the most expensive items, however. From bottles to coolers, reproductions abound in this area. Some items were made to look old, but never existed as originals. Collectors refer to these items as "fantasies." Fantasies items range from belt buckles to bottle shaped knives and often make their way into antique shops, flea markets and shows. Even though most dealers don't intentionally sell them to dupe their customers, these fakes do eventually get passed on to uneducated collectors as authentic Coca Cola collectibles.
Many people also collect Pepsi products. It's always best to purchase expensive items from a dealer you know and trust. In order to receive top dollar when you sell your items, it's a good idea to have a dealer authenticate them for you.
Despite legitimate concerns about authenticity, it remains possible to avoid reproductions and other fakes and enjoy the hobby of collecting Coke products. Great items are available in any price range, making the hobby accessible to anyone who loves Coca Cola memorabilia.
