One important thing to bear in mind while cat training or kitten training, chiefly when you are house training them, is that scolding just do not work all the time. Most of the owners initially, when they try to give litter box training to their cat, it becomes frustrated since they are incapable of catching the cat in the act of the offense so as to approve them.
People will usually explain to the cat the proof and try to give discipline to the cat at that time, and at times even draw the cat back to the box and then forces him to dig inside the litter. If the new kitten has arrived from a very respectable breeder, the kitten will be given cat training in use of a litter box. In such cases, cat problems may be reduced. Kittens often learn from mother cats, and breeders will emphasize what kinds of things the mother cat has taught them.
Make sure to inquire of the breeder what kind of litter box your kitten was used to before you brought him home. Frequently if you switch to a different brand, he might not figure out it's purpose. Should you wish to switch the brand of box you use, transition gradually.

Before you take your new kitten home, it is a good idea to first ask the breeder what type of litter box he had been using.
